In @crivera.bsky.social's new essay collection, she writes about new words, discovering her own way of thinking, and seeing the world as a web of flowing relationships.

Her book, MY OCEANS, is available now, via @nupress.bsky.social. Read our excerpt ⬇️

"I love this notion: that in vast seas and the absence of cues, the space between whales became the point of focus."

@crivera.bsky.social on the flowing relationships between things and the missing language we need amid a time of change.

They say people don’t buy a book until they’ve seen its cover at least nine times. So here are nine photos of MY OCEANS being read by hot men.

Because ALL men who read feminist books are HOT.🔥

Pub day tomorrow. Get it in any place books are sold. Preferably your fav local bookstore. 😍

Such a delight working with Cheri and a dream pub @longreads.com !
I considered a few excerpts from @crivera.bsky.social's new book, "My Oceans." I was so drawn to this one, in which she writes about whales, the missing language we need in a time of change, and the spaces in between things.
When the world shifts, so must our words.

In this excerpt of MY OCEANS: ESSAYS OF WATER, WHALES, AND WOMEN, Christina Rivera explores nature, the sea of language, and the power of naming the ineffable.

Hugging this from Febos today (as the pages of my debut are likely being bound; does publishing a book ever not feel like an act of narcissism?): “To place our flawed selves in the context of this magnificent, broken world is the opposite of narcissism…”

I dream in languages when I'm studying them. Similarly, I "dream in book" depending on the project that feels most entitled to nagging me. And here we are: The essay collection has finally shut TF up. And the novel is back at my 2am doorstep! Tis the new season of "gnawing" (see threaded definition)

You ever return to a workshopped essay remembering the feedback as positive and expecting the work to be minimal, and then feel slapped across the face with the reality that people were nice because the middles of those compliment sandwiches required your deepest thinking/work yet?
