The left often cares more about vibes than outcomes. But vibe in one hand and shit in the other. See which gets full the fastest. We need votes. That means we need a broader tent. We broaden the tent, in part, by improving real outcomes.
I, for one, welcome the “abundance” fight. It shows the left can fight Trumpism while wrestling with how we can be better than we’ve been.

Conservatives paint leftists as irrational, arguing leftist policies are expensive and inefficient. When we counter that they are more cost-effective and efficient than what we currently have, they reveal the truth: they fundamentally believe in the purifying power of suffering.

This was my immediate response to the election results, where I warned that civil society was going to irrevocably shift because of this, but that it was important to maintain your own sense of right and wrong--and to let that guide your actions--even when nobody else is.

Anyone who talks about sending power to the states as liberating is either lying their their teeth or is completely ignorant of how state governments place directives on the home rule of cities and municipalities. Its not smaller government or better government, its just different government
Corporate ownership of housing as "an investment" is basically like you owning your dogs food as an investment. They have the necessities of life and we have to quietly obey or suffer the consequences. And in many US jurisdictions, rent control is ILLEGAL.
My position is basically that I think we should attack rent-seeking specifically. I'm much more bothered by the profit motive in housing and think as individuals our time is better spent figuring out how to get out from under the grasp of profit-seeking landlords.

I just got my last phd rejections for this cycle, realized my rent is probably gonna go up by $400 this summer because "what u gonna do be homeless," and I live in a red state so God knows if ill have health insurance this time next year 🥰
