Des élus qui ne comprennent pas comment une démocratie fonctionne.

This is possibly a case of russian pressure backfiring spectacularly. I'm disappointed that De Wever flopped in the face of Russian overt and covert threats but the result is indeed possibly better.

The message should be simple: play by our rules or leave the pitch.

Wow, Russia won't have any fighter planes in a month or two at this rate.

Big cities first, no doubt. Once a certain proportion of the vehicles are electric, the petrol stations won't be profitable. The tipping point will be quite sudden.

Where will they refill the petrol? There won't be many petrol stations left.

I hated cycling through crowds so I tried the alternative route - and found my life at risk several times by drivers + stuck behind busses in traffic jams. Nice to know voruit, ps and mr must be waiting for the first fatality.

Belgium might like to gloat on the JT1930 about how it defeated the EU, but most of the EU members states are not going to forget this. Don't be surprised if things start moving against the new Russian trojan horse.

Belgium is 85%. Your focus on the rest is really rather telling, as well.

The more desperate an adversary, the more strident its language must become.

Well, Belgium has form (like many other countries). Look at what the rape of Congo allowed for; Belgium was practically swimming in blood money, while its poor were (like other places also) living in hovels. I tend to think democracy sits uneasily with massive inequalities...
December 19, 2025 at 3:27 PM
Belgium *could* have insisted that other countries give up their funds in the negotiation. The fact that it didn't is telling. And the reason, in my opinion, is down to discreet and overt Russian pressure rather than legal advice that only Belgium appears to agree with.
December 19, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Belgium holds by far the largest amount (194b vs 25 or so for France). Indeed, this takes the pressure off other countries.
December 19, 2025 at 11:56 AM
Not by me.
December 19, 2025 at 11:37 AM
So almost all the other countries in Europe are undemocratic for not sharing the same legal opinion as spineless De Wever 🤣

And this is just the public stuff. You can imagine the discreet messages passed to De Wever, who no doubt has several skeletons in his and his party's closet.
