Tuesday last week I passed my PhD viva, with my thesis titled: "Optimising antibiotics in the Spanish public hospital: Professional belonging, collective consciousness and power at the edge of intervention"
Replying to all the well wishing messages I received, it's slowly sinking in, it's done! :)

Months of sitting down across a laptop screen certainly take their toll on the body. 3 weeks of unbelievable Orcadian sunshine definitely helped unwind post-thesis writing.

In other news. About a month has passed since the thesis submission. How?!

I'm about to finish knitting "the thesis jumper," I've swam in the North Sea... But also fully beaten up in the Scottish battles between humans and midges (Not sure if we'll win this one.)

Not a bad place to be! :P

I don't engage much with social media anymore.
A little post, days away from submitting the thesis... The conclusion's final page is probably close to this GIF.
I don't know, I said so many things, choose your own adventure m'dam reader, go to p.75? Or to p.167? 🫠 That would go down well, RIGHT?

After +10 years living in the UK, a degree, and nearly another one, it is shocking to yet again be asked for proof of my English proficiency for a short professional skills course... It doesn't beat that time when the University of Edinburgh wouldn't take its own degree as proof. But almost!

Perhaps my literal worst nightmare, a cruise and norovirus... I ask myself if there's infectious disease that could get anyone more traumatised than this bug? I know relatively speaking its normally mild and inconsequential. But I still shiver when I hear of someone having got it.
A floating public health nightmare: “More than 230 passengers and crew members have been sickened in an outbreak of norovirus during a 29-day round-trip luxury cruise from England to the Eastern Caribbean, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

And Spain continues without a public health agency because of the last-minute change in the right-wing vote. Sad times for quite a few civil servants and health professionals mobilising this for so many years... Spain's health inequalities are structural, full stop.

Yes, for the "dream" (aka #antimicrobialstewardship) to work you need teams that learn how to do work relationships, train your team members in interpersonal skills, functioning healthcare software ecologies, and job security.
