Yeah, I’m no medical professional so I'd want someone with medical knowledge to weigh in on this. This was the best compromise I could think of.

This would prevent a scenario where a pure bowler is injured and replaced by a bowling all-rounder who then also bats at No. 6.

The replacement player has to bat at the position in which the injured player is listed on the team sheet at the toss.

And it goes without saying that the injury sub has to be like for like. This means that the player has to be the same type of bowler, so pace for pace, spin for spin, and also bat at the same position as the injured one.

However, I also think that there should be guardrails in place so that teams don't abuse this by drumming up fake injuries. So there has to be some sort of pre-agreed extent to which injuries are considered grave enough for the player to be replaced.
