What network would they access over there? I must be missing something, but cant see it being too hard to monitor.

Hasn't Starmer said that local elections are vitally important? thats why he couldnt let Burnham contest a seat?
The aim of this local govt. reorg is woolly, lots of marketing, but all I see are the same old faces trying to maintain their posts.
January 26, 2026 at 8:05 PM
Why would the EU trust us after Brexit? They know any deal we make would be jettisoned by Farage if he becomes PM.
Europe has always believed we are the US poodle, Starmer does nothing to deflect that.
Trump has raised an issue that will not go away once he goes.

He just doesn't care, nor do his support base. Wish news sites would stop explaining his actions, they have no logic other than that of a tyrant

Local area = East of England. Boosterism from Johnson was annoying, you're just as bad.
There are substantial problems with this project, not least is the snarling of traffic caused by commuting of migrant workers into country lanes

You work for Lisa Nandy dont you? Doesnt she select the winner? Is there no conflict of interest? Or is just how Westminster works?
January 26, 2026 at 10:17 AM
The magic of cutting red tape as its a mystery why its ever there.
January 26, 2026 at 9:55 AM
Suspect the main problem will be in persuading us that these changes will affect council services for the better. It just seems to be a rearranging of bums on seats. Unless power & money is devolved then it will be a waste
January 24, 2026 at 10:12 PM
While 30% of the country can win a GE, while we struggle with a civil service suited to empire & have little expertise in negotiating, the EU will extract a hard price for any deal. Labour MPs can talk as much as they like, it will make no difference.
January 24, 2026 at 6:15 PM
Its not helping. When anything is outsourced, not only do you lose control you also lose the expertise & resources to manage it. I suspect the government also doesnt want the responsibility to update it.
January 23, 2026 at 1:45 PM
As with all technology the prime motivation is money, short term profit. As with all politicians the prime motivation is FOMO. As a country we have no say in how this develops. Our govt does not have the expertise or courage to challenge it.
January 23, 2026 at 10:08 AM
This government, as the previous one, has little expertise in running a country nor the skills or expertise for each area. It relies on lobbyists who supply excuses for ministers to parrot. Costs have mushroomed, we sent the workforce home, theres no chance of social/affordable houses being built

No better time to watch Football if you can afford to pay for the subscriptions.
As you said, the variety of sport on TV in the 70/80s was far better than now.
Moaning about Football is a thriving industry.
Attendances were lower at Football games but now its gentrified, young have been priced out

Operationally independent but technically dependent on the US is a typical response to asking about UK nuclear capability. Could apply to the whole country. The US has no time for our delusion we are still important. Thats why Trump treats Starmer, Farage & Johnson the same. Do as they're told
January 19, 2026 at 7:43 PM
Would be interesting to get to the bottom of how & why this began. Was it simply poor management, confused responsibilities or a reaction to an impossible situation?
January 19, 2026 at 9:12 AM
There is the little matter of substantial US forces stationed in the UK & other countries. Not only are they essential for our defence, they also contribute a lot to the local economies.
January 18, 2026 at 7:54 PM
hasn't happened with Trump yet, probably wont. His results will catch up with everyone else, not him.
As for Jenrick, I always think that both Reform & Tories think they have successfully infiltrated each other without the other side knowing
January 18, 2026 at 2:39 PM
An unregulated medium that has been operating for years surprises you when it ignores your online safety bill. Now is the time to enforce that act, remove all govt business on X & not recite your instructions from Labour HQ to imply you're actually doing something
January 18, 2026 at 1:38 PM
An aim of project 2025 is to consolidate power with the president. Submitting to his will every time, even in a gesture like this, just makes him push even further & opens up new avenues for him. If Greenland is handed to him then Canada is next.
January 18, 2026 at 12:15 PM
Trump, Vance etc make it clear what they are doing. UK media ignore it or play it down, presumably to avoid exposing our weakness as a country.

As for Jess Asato, who'd have thought an unregulated medium would attract abuse. Simple fix, all Government delete their accts
January 17, 2026 at 11:51 AM
Will Trump let Starmer make any attempt to sanction X. Suspect not. There will be a lot of noise but the Tech giants have more influence & control than is healthy.
The obvious thing to do is make all SM companies responsible for what is output on their product.
January 14, 2026 at 11:44 AM
Inflation, poor health care, housing & education contribute to the expansion of poverty in the UK.
Starmer & co dont really understand poverty, never had to exist day to day. Until inflation is brought under control, too many people will be dragged into its cycle
January 12, 2026 at 7:48 PM
Our politicians lack any understanding of how the modern world works, Brexit being the prime example. All the expertise lies in the private sector while they play their part in the Westminster soap opera.
January 11, 2026 at 1:58 PM
People in the UK should really take notice of the US news media. Trump, & whoever succeeds him, intend to bleed us dry. Starmers party has no intention of allying with the EU, any sign put out to indicate otherwise is gaslighting. We are past the point of no return in too many areas
January 10, 2026 at 9:28 PM
As Jack works for the Dept that chooses the city, does that mean a shoo in for Ipswich? We would sneer at any other country where an MP can openly tout for his own constituency while working for the Department that chooses it. Perhaps we're just inured to our 19th C ways.
