Nature, native plant gardens, veggie gardening, art, photography, tent camping, and canoeing. Embracing peace and tranquility.
Renee Good, murdered by ICE in Minneapolis. This is when We the People have to decide—really decide—whether we want a democracy or not.

I hope protestors stay peaceful. I don’t trust that the Federal government will. This painting is my protest. RIP, Renee. May your sacrifice be remembered.

What an absolutely beautiful day with interesting clouds. Picture is a beaver lodge in a pond at William O’Brien state park in Minnesota.

My favorite image from a shoot at a local park the other week. I didn’t realize it was going to rain, and the clouds were wonderful! #OM3 #m43 #landscapePhotography

Easy to get up for sunrise this time of year, but it was cold and windy, and the first snow of the season was in the ground. When I returned around 9am, it was 22F with wind chills making it feel like 7F. Without the wind, it would have been fine. With the wind, it was rough. #sunrise #bridge

Spent a couple of days at Glacial Lakes State Park. The prairie is simply breathtaking, and I have many photos to sort through. A good winter project! Here’s one from sunrise this morning.

Taking a break from posting photos to enjoy the outdoors, but still shooting them to upload over the internet months. Also video. In the meantime, here’s a shadow darner (Aeshna umbrosa) in my yard. #dragonflies

Fort Ridgely Creek at Fort Ridgely State Park runs alongside the campgrounds. The ranger told me water levels can rise fast from heavy storms far up the watershed. Love my OM3’s built in neutral density filter. #microfourthirds @emilietalpin.bsky.social

I ate lunch at a picnic table at Fort Ridgely. Half way through, I look over to see a thirteen lined ground squirrel watching me, hoping for a handout (which never came). #MinnesotaStatePark

Northern blue flag iris (Iris versicolor). The flowers don’t last long, but it’s a treat when these bloom each year. A species that supposedly needs wetter conditions, these do just fine in my suburban yard. #nativeplants #pollinatorgarden #Minnesota

Prairie phlox (Phlox pilosa) seems to get pushed out in my garden somewhat easily, so I’m always happy to see it in late May/early June. #Minnesota #nativeplants #pollinatorgarden
