A DMZ is made by using a firewall, you have two options. Single firewall or double firewall. If you wanted to use your router then you would need some way to place it before the firewall internal to it. The big question is whether your Verizon router is capable of it could be either way.

In addition to that, running the web facing services inside a dmz. Then only open firewall ports for those services to your internal network if they need to access things like a NAS.
