LCOE for wind and solar also dont include system wide costs for energy storage systems
February 9, 2025 at 10:53 AM
The answer is no then.

LCOE for remote wind also doesn't include transmission cost to remote locations.

But more importantly, the societal cost due to EU fines aren't included.

Rhetorical Q: Do we factor in the €billions in 2030 EU fines to Ireland into LCOE calculations for our solar and wind investment strategy? No. Because investors won't have to pay: The taxpayer will.

The peak is interesting but the energy in GWh more so; if you can strive to report that it would be awesome.

Also surprising Eirgrid or ESB can't supply real-time battery data outputs. This infrastructure is built with many hundreds of millions of taxpayers and bill payer's money. I'll ask them.

We have an installed capacity of wind now in excess of demand for power. So yes, while the wind blows; that 80% shouldn't be a surprise. Limited only by NS limit.

What's WOW is you think we go from annual 40% to 80% in 5 years (by 2030)!!

Hannah, I dont mean to start a row here but I eye rolled at this.

It's not just data centres.

Intermittent renewables CANT meet supply ANY new industrial demand for power...it can only offset its energy use.

Thanks Trevor. That's a shame.

Maybe premature. Looks like we are burning coal again?
January 6, 2025 at 9:47 AM
Ah well there is one solution that could be mutually beneficial to both our countries and shut down CCGT on both islands....

Your 85 figure is a trading level that bill payers never notice

Read this link and try and learn. The future of the wind market = a future of curtailment claims. (in combination with expensive last-resort gas generation)

£270 per MWh
= €325 per MWh
= 32.5cent per kWh
Discarded wind energy increases by 91% in 2024

Ah brilliant thanks

When is it online? Seems delayed. Nothing on their website. Did the Russians drag- anchor it ;)

Insightful description written in the alt text on the image.

"Transmission constraints" = there is nowhere for the wind energy to go. Could arguably be replaced with the phrase "oversupply of wind" on the grid. We are afraid to say oversupplied, when paradoxially demand for energy is so high.

Would you reconsider your move from X/twitter? this place is DOA.

If not, my own team will set up a similar X bot based on eirgrid data

Yeah it's a fun topic alright 👍
December 17, 2024 at 8:13 PM
There's plenty of competition there.. so no, that's not it. smart arse
December 17, 2024 at 7:37 PM
Sounds like you are avoiding the truth and blaming a whopping 200% increase on network transmission costs.
December 17, 2024 at 4:57 PM
And why are Irish customers paying three times this wholesale amount? (€360 /MWh)
December 17, 2024 at 4:42 PM
What we produce in a year China produces in an afternoon
December 17, 2024 at 2:51 PM
What's the fine if we don't pay the fine?
December 15, 2024 at 2:17 PM
You mean fortunately.

Also, fortunately the public isn't listening to this rubbish either.
