I rarely played more than against CPUs in the past and had fun mashing, but I want to give PvP a try... But my elitist snob mindset is still thinking inputs are the only viable way to play. Hence why I was asking Mr Beef, as I know he plays online from time to time. So both of you... Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Shotos like Ryu and Akuma I can do the older inputs and specials reasonably well and practised even some old true combos in SF4 for example. I used some predecessor of those inputs on the 3DS for characters I rarely/never played.

So if I do the input in modern the damage is not reduced?

I can do shoto inputs reasonably well since I'm 37 and played all the way back with SF2 on the SNES. But newer characters and different styles I have trouble with... As I strive to reach your prowess... how viable would you say it is playing modern controls? And what's more "fun" for you?
