Finally, I've been detailing and working on my sign so I can hold it proudly while I protest.

I've photocopied all of my documents including my social security card, birth certificate, and driver's license and left those originals with my family. If needed, they can provide the original documents to my lawyer.

This will give me more courage to do what I need to do, knowing that my family won't be burdened with figuring out how to help me if I get arrested.

I've been calling congressmen and women and telling them exactly why I'm protesting. When they see me, I won't need to say much - they will already know why I'm there.
I've contacted my own governor and a civil rights lawyer in case I'm illegally detained.

Those worried about my safety in a big city? Don't! I've grown up in and around Philly my entire life and already survived a holdup at gunpoint.
I'm also a backpacker and AT hiker with a lot of courage and ability to scare men off who are threatening.

I've got a right to free speech and peaceful protest. I have no criminal background, not even a parking ticket, and I will not be carrying a weapon or anything that could be mistaken for one.

Yeah, the worst was a 5,000 comm that took me two months to complete, and then when he showed it to his wife (only at the end, swearing it was a gift and she loved green)... she said "i like it but can she redo it with red instead of all this green?" No lady, this isn't PS, it's paint on canvas. 🤣

Ah, I was doing large painting commissions and some (extremely wealthy) clients skipped the contract and then refused to pay when they couldn't change the entire composition after I was done (after many rounds of approvals). They had money for better lawyers, so sometimes I lost the civil case.

I'm glad it works out for you. But if you continue, maybe talk to the client on the phone before you send for approval and reiterate in the call they can't make any major changes after approval. Most people don't read contracts anymore.
