The drought last summer claimed my favourite, pink Michaelmas daisy, but up through the cracks in the paving, came this fine, new one, which must have grown from a seed which fell. Nature is so resilient!

There’s just something irresistible about the intense, powdery blue of picea pungens ‘Edith’ as its new growth emerges in the month of May, and its modest ultimate size and rate of growth make it a great choice as a specimen tree.
