This truck, operated by a carrier from Chicago, Illinois, was cited on 10/15/25 at Bethlehem Landfill by PA DEP. It had no markings indicating that it's carrying MSW. Also it didn't have written authorization from DEP to carry waste. #NoLandfillExpansion

Look at this rust bucket! A Truck of Dubious Distinction! City of Allentown truck cited by PA DEP 10/15/25 for not being leak-proof. Imagine all the muck that leaked all over the roadways.

On 10/15/25 PA DEP was at Bethlehem Landfill and issued violations to this truck from NY, for operating without written authorization and for not properly marking the vehicle that it's carrying municipal solid waste.

Here's Bethlehem Landfill, in plain view of neighborhoods to the north of Lehigh River. Who decided this was OK?

During the 9/16/25 inspection of Bethlehem Landfill, the PA DEP official noted brown liquid in a drainage ditch by an access road. Staff were told to investigate it and clean it up. We hope this doesn't end up in the stormwater system. #NoLandfillExpansion

Violation "Not determined"?: "Gas recovery conducted as per approved plan, including annual analysis; section 273.293 (a)(b)". It seems the DEP inspector questioned whether BLC's gas recovery plan is being followed, since there were several instances of gas odors & methane leaks found on 9/16/25.

On 9/16/25, the PA DEP inspector noted problems of fugitive emissions at the Southeast section of the dump. Here is an uncapped marker where leachate was seeping on the surface, and the methane level was measured at 6200PPM! The report also noted strong landfill gas odors in several areas.

Here's an excerpt from the 9/16/25 DEP inspection report on Bethlehem Landfill. A notice of violation related to air quality standards remains outstanding due to BLC's inability to control air contaminants. With such a pattern of failures, why should this dump be allowed to expand?

Fracking waste in this PA town was dumped in a nearby landfill. The landfill's toxic leachate couldn't be processed at the wastewater treatment plant! Along the banks of the Monongahela River, fracking waste in a landfill poses a pollution problem • Pennsylvania Capital-Star buff.ly/UR7GNmn

Boom! Billboard on Route 378 in Lower Saucon. We won't stop raising awareness of this most important environmental & quality of life issue in our town. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers who designed this. Thanks for all the support that made this possible! Excellent work! NO Landfill Expansion!

Seneca Falls faces similar issues to ours - Waste Connections is pouring money into local elections."a predictable playbook: spend big, spread fear that the town’s economy will collapse without the landfill, and elect people who will put corporate profits above residents’ health." buff.ly/VY3XZnQ
GUEST APPEARANCE: Seneca Meadows Landfill is holding us hostage over Local Law 3
The recent news that Seneca Meadows refuses to sign the new host community agreement unless Local Law 3 is repealed should outrage every resident of Seneca Falls and beyond.

Enough drama already, Chicken Little! The money from the dump comes at great cost to the hundreds of households within a mile of the dump. It is immoral to expect those households to suffer for this dump! Save our neighborhoods! #NoLandfillExpansion #Closethedump!

Bethlehem Landfill's latest scare tactics aren't fooling us. BLC uses the only thing in its favor to perpetuate its infringement on our beautiful community. 94% of municipalities don't have a dump & the taxpayers haven't moved to the poorhouse yet! Go home, Big Garbage. #NoLandfillExpansion!

Here's a quick re-write of a portion of Bethlehem Landfill's most recent self-serving flyer sent to LST residents, because it's an election year. State of the art facility? Burying trash is a stone age idea. Save our forest from out of date technology! #NoLandfillExpansion

Bethlehem Landfill's self-serving mailer, claims a strong environmental record. HA! The 8/8/25 DEP inspection report shows outstanding violations for fugitive air emissions, air quality, daily cover; and not operating within approved plans and permits. Get the facts: buff.ly/BHQx4o0

Here's the exit interview notes from DEP's 7/11/25 inspection of Bethlehem Landfill. Must BLC be told how to manage so many aspects of their facility? This is our beautiful town, our neighborhoods. People want freedom from the effects of the dump. BLC must do better. Or better yet, CLOSE THE DUMP.

Status quo: Vultures observed at the working face by DEP inspector on 7/11/25. Surprisingly, no notice of violation is issued. Here's a snapshot of the law and of the inspector's comments. Note BLC uses LST's nuisance ordinance as an excuse, while nuisance birds continue to plague the neighborhoods.

DEP inspection of Bethlehem Landfill on 7/11/25 shows outstanding violations from 2024 related to air quality & air pollution. (see excerpts from the report). Will BLC ever be in compliance with sections 273.217(b) & 273.217(a) of the PA Solid Waste Mgmt Act? #NoLandfillExpansion #BethlehemLandfill

Here's an oldie but a goodie. Bethlehem Landfill has violations outstanding going back to Feb 2024 and Feb 2025 because the Southeast corner of the landfill is still stinking up the area! Daily and Intermediate cover not adequate, flagging of waste. See excerpt. Sections 273.233(b)(1) and 273.233(c)
August 21, 2025 at 4:06 PM
On the 7/11/25 DEP inspection report, outstanding violations are noted, from Feb 2025 & Feb 2025 since Bethlehem Landfill has not promptly corrected deficiencies. That's a violation of Section 273.218(b)(3). (See text in photo) #NoLandfillExpansion #BethlehemLandfill

Section 273.201(c)(2) of the PA Solid Waste Management Act is pretty basic. Does the facility operate in accordance with approved plans and permits? The July 11, 2025 DEP inspection Report apparently says no! See attached. Full Report can be found here buff.ly/NHKlRPY

Here is how to access the PADEP Inspection report of #BethlehemLandfill dated 7-11-25, which tells the same old story about this Waste Connections dump and its problems! We'll be sharing the highlights in the coming days.
