🌼Check out the new publication from our #CRC1502 members about #Soilinfiltration in Geoderma. It has been found to vary strongly across soil groups, textures, and land uses with big implications for runoff, flood risk, drought buffering, and irrigation efficiency.

💻Check out the new publication from our #CRC1502 members Johannes Leonhardt and @ribana.bsky.social about Conformal Prediction. It has been found to give statistically valid uncertainty for ML in digital agriculture. It supports crop decisions with calibrated intervals.

🌾 A study from our members at @agrosphere-ibg-3.bsky.social found that thermal neutrons from Cosmic-ray neutron sensors correlates well with several parameter on plants and it is crop specific. The sensors is found to have potential in supporting eddy covariance stations.

🗺️ A study led by our member Haojin Zhao on the assimilation of SMAP soil moisture data onto land surface models is out on Water Resources Research. It was found to improve characterization on the models albeit no improvement is visible on ET characterizations.

🧠 New publication from our member Thomas Gaiser on the water logging impact to crop production is out on Nature Food. It has been found that there are critical deficiences on accurately simulating soil processes that could be minimized using advanced crop modelling.

Last year, my master's student and I had the pleasure of taking peat samples in the Flow Country, examining the effect of land use changes and wildfires on carbon stability under current and future climate scenarios. 🌱
🌼 In December 2024, we visited the Forsinard Flows Nature Reserve in Scotland. In this study, we investigate the impact of a wildfire in 2019 on soil processes and carbon changes of burnt and unburnt pairs of different sites – and what it means for future climate scenarios.
