Introvert and veteran lurker of online forums. She/her. Stubborn enough to have earned a PhD. Socialist enough to try to be a decent human being.
Autistic here. Been working since 18, pay taxes, been on dates, and even got a PhD. Actually got the PhD before the autism diagnosis, which only came to light because I was suffering burnout. Goes to show how many people ignore that it's a spectrum, including this brain worm-infected nematode.

I wouldn't blame every American. There are some that are currently out on the streets protesting and legally fighting Trump. Some have been doing it for years.

With that said, yeah, I don't trust Americans anymore, and I am American. I'm one of the people our health secretary wants to put in camps.

That is your opinion, and I highly respect your strong ethics. However, there's a plethora of grad students and postdocs who depend on that money to eat. I empathize with researchers who are trying to keep their grant from getting pulled for the sake of their students, and fight back in other ways.

Thank you @darbysaxbe.bsky.social for posting this. I will be sharing this with those I know in the STEM field. This can help them tailor their diversity statements in their grant applications (if that section hasn't already been pulled from the application).

And for challenging the oppressive power structures in place, no less? Last I checked, that is NOT a time I'd want to be alive in.

Agreed. Instead, there's a lot of Democrats that seem to want to imitate the Weimar Republic of pre-Nazi Germany. Bipartisanship with fascists doesn't work.

Totally get the rage. I reported and blocked them, too. It's time for these bullies to understand that their actions have consequences, and that people are beyond tired of dealing with their crap.

Thank you for at least trying. You're taking the risks and standing up for what's right, even if you may fail. That's what this country needs right now, instead of leaders taking the safe, but ineffective route all the time.

??? I'm totally confused by your comment. Are you saying progressives didn't vote for Kamala? Because I'm progressive and voted blue down ballot. I'm sure there are others that did, too. This narrative doesn't make sense.

? I think you're putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about non-voters. Multiple failures occurred, including voters not showing up. But focusing on passing meaningless legislation while people are hurting? That is another (big) failure, and I'm calling it out here.

I expect her and other Democrats to bring substantive legislation to the floor, and when it fails or is filibustered, put those who killed the bills on blast until midterms (hopefully they occur). Not wasting time working with the same senators who are screwing this country to pass this crap.

Love how these Weimar Democrats are doing great things like choosing a national mascot while our country is hurtling off a cliff. But it's all the progressives' fault that Trump's in, isn't it?
