I post my random bits of research and spreadsheeting here, mostly baseball related. If you like it, share what you want, just give me a mention if you do.

Same name on Reddit, I post in r/baseball a lot. Sometimes mistaken for Jeff Passan
#69 alert

AJ Blubaugh becomes the first player in 2025 to wear #69.

Only 10 teams have issued the number, many franchises avoiding it for obvious reasons, and players who stay in the MLB tends to change it soon after.

The #Astros gave it to Chase De Jong in 2020 and Ryan Hartman in 2021.

One month since Opening Day, and the #BlueJays are still the only AL East team to have bunted (successfully).

Matt Svanson became the 2nd player in MLB history to have a name beginning with Sv (the other being long-time SS Dale Sveum)

Thus, Sveum has been kicked off my roster of players with a name beginning with a unique 2-letter combination.

This is devastating for my already thin IF depth.

One of my favorite oddly satisfying things on the Baseball Reference site: There's exactly 24 pitchers with 300 career wins, and the career wins page shows all 24 pitchers pictures. Names are in Alt Text

Did you know?

Pitcher Tommy Milone is the only player in MLB history to wear #69 for more than one team.

He wore #69 for the #Orioles in 6 games in July and August of 2020, and wore #69 for the #BlueJays in 6 games in April and May of 2021.

He's the only player to ever wear #69 for both teams

MLB Stadiums Ranked by Distance to the nearest Blockbuster location.

Personally, I think the #Mariners should use this to recruit more free agents, Blockbuster is an important piece of Americana.

I created a 40-man roster from the 44 players whose first or last name (or name they went by) begins with a unique 2-letter combination. Source: Baseball-Reference search bar

HW also shows Ji Hwan Bae, but his names start with Ji and Bae so Jae-gyun Hwang remains the only HW player.
