I reworked the handful of maps I've done so far. Below is a new dungeon/ruins. Unfortunately, the game has been relegated to the status of hobby, but fortunately with no self-imposed deadline, I can just add whatever I want, whenever I want.

Some progress has been made on re-doing maps (and I emphasise 'some'). Unfortunately, work on the game has slowed down as I face the reality of requiring an income to continue. Ah, the curse of having bills to pay.

1. I have no game narrative.
2. My maps are messy, big, and hard to navigate.

WELCOME TO THE ARENA! After working on some quests, I discovered saving no longer worked... all because of how I was handling bullet collisions. Thanks to my arena, saving works again, and bullets now have a particle effect when they collide with objects. #indiedev #gamedev #solodev #rpginabox

Today's update, the story has taken a darker turn, encompassing themes of xenophobia and isolation. A cute teddy bear won't cut it as a protagonist. So, remaking the player character as a human required some work. Also, inn complete, and a cave of death. #indiedev #gamedev #solodev #rpginabox

Have new respect for people that design quests. Quests that have multiple milestones, involving multiple characters... so many if statements. In the meantime, a title screen made using @rpginabox.bsky.social's map editor.

Taking a break from the village and started working a little on a snowy inn. Player has a torch now. Useful for wondering around in the snow (or dungeon).

Quick update:
- Have abandoned drawing character portraits. They look out of place with the rest of the game's asthetic and it takes sooo long. Also considering abandoning Twitter.
- Took stock today - 45 unique objects, 65 tiles... across 8 maps... I need MOAR maps!

Quick update:
- Tracks for 3 maps composed
- Custom quest widget
- Onscreen UI
- Combat animation tweaks
- Starting map updated with new content
- Updated fonts
- Compulsory 'kill the giant rats' quest added
- Particle effects added (for a bit of atmosphere)

A few updates:
- Main character now shows emotions during conversations.
- Combat system is nearly there, twin-stick shooter style.
- First item has been created (a weapon, for above-mentioned combat).
- Additional character portrait for new NPC added.
- Tile maps updated.

Today was focused on making combat fun, adding a quest, creating some images for the bestiary. Over the weekend I finally settled on a name and a loading screen. I've omitted the name here (don't want you registering the domain before I do ;)

This has a visual novel element to it (conversations are important), there needs to be character portraits that are pretty big and expressive. Today I did some work on the main character's portrait. Will be iterated.
