As much as I love Jurassic, I can’t watch any of the movies in theaters for this exact reason. Too many people would see the look on my blushing face

Never feel shame for the quality or content of what you write in a draft. The reason first drafts are so helpful is because it’s so much easier to write when you have a physical reference to take from. That’s all I gotta say.

You get a way better vision of everything once you actually read it with your eyes instead of keeping it in your head. When you feel up to it, hit the ground running and just type like you‘re writing in your private diary. Just get everything down first and edit it from there.

When you feel like you’re specifically in a writing mood, create a new document just for testing out ideas . Don’t try to write a beginning, and don’t worry about canonicity. Just type down cool scenes or pieces of dialogue; think of it like a sketchbook for writing.

Space out and get lost in any random bullshit that gets in your head, even (and sometimes especially) if it doesn’t make sense. Write down whatever onto a notes app and draw crummy sketches on scratch paper.

As for the writing, my only hopefully helpful advice is you‘re never gonna get ideas staring at an empty Word document or a blank paper. A lot of the best ideas come when you‘re walking outside or showering or in bed or cranking off or whatever.

I really wish there was an in-between; for me it’s always either staticky brain or overflowing brain. One day you want your brain to shut up, and the next day it’s AWOL. Can’t I just be allowed to think my own thoughts whenever I want to?

I really wish there was an in-between; for me it’s always either staticky brain or overflowing brain. One day you want your brain to shut up, and the next day it’s AWOL. Can’t I just be allowed to think my own thoughts whenever I want to?
