Google says they don't user your personal data to train AI without your permission, but they have not made it clear that wanting spell check constitutes "permission."

This is the nirvana fallacy: The thing was bad, any alternative to the thing must therefore be perfect. It assumes that if the programmer had checked for an error they would have done something sensible with it, which in this case, where they clearly didn't expect the error, is quite an assumption!
