I keep coming back to his comments to Carra after Bournemouth. Re: the nature of their first goal he said something to effect of ‘we keep attacking, this is who we are’.. but I’m not sure that’s ever been true of us under him, has it? Last year was super controlled

Unfortunately this is what the league’s become. Majority of the league is teams full of 6ft+ groks in deep blocks playing for clean sheets and set pieces

and the general shithousery. Not that we were doing anything useful when the ball was in play.. but would have been nice to see an actual game of football break out beyond feigned injuries and 60 second restarts for throwins

He was referring to our 2nd half vs Arsenal, not the Ev. Still, not sure where he’s got that from. Thought we were much improved that half that day 🤷♂️

+ fee maybe lower than expected as sounds like we’ve put some cheeky clauses in: buy-back option, sell on fee etc

I suspect it’s useful for both clubs to do it this way. Villa tight on PSR right now so this pushes the outlay to next year, and we’re probably fine given the shedload of sales so this going to next year works too

You’re conflating the club and the fans, and regardless this is probably the worst parallel you could draw. LFC went in for the super league and got pelters from the fans for it. Ditto ticket price increases. Have Newcastle fans gone against anything your ownership have done?

Another good contrast someone wrote an article on today (can’t recall who) is how clubs treat players they want rid of. United and Chelsea in particular - ostracise, strip squad number etc. works both ways

Agree, but I wouldn’t say a 2nd bid has to be in ~£150m range to prove to the player we tried or protect for future situations. Suspect we go back in not too far north of the last bid

Also there’ve been links to good ball progressing CBs (Huijsen, Guehi too i think?) and Slot talks a lot about the value of that from VVD. Assuming that need becomes greater now with Trent leaving.. anyone popping in the data that LFC could target?
