Very similar experience here. I cycle with my son to primary school. What I really cannot understand is how many parents of secondary school age students drop them by car. Do these parents not see the importance of fostering and encouraging this independence?

It's not cycling in itself that would improve children's well-being. It's the freedom and independence that cycling allows. To explore and travel safely on their own. Engaging with the real world by themselves and not only leaving the house with their parents and strapped in a car seat.

What is the point of these articles?! It's just poking fun at a group of people who have made a (still quite uncommon) decision to bike around with their kids instead of driving.

The idea that owning a cargo bike is any more of a status symbol than owning a car is farcical.

So many drivers in Ireland will break any rule of the road unless they are physically prevented from doing so.

The double yellow lines here would be enough elsewhere, but not here.

I am almost surprised that people in SUVs don't just drive over these flexible bollards slowly and park anyway.
