I make computers do my bidding ( mostly )
I remember meeting someone from Florida and they went on a huge rant about “immigrants not speaking English”.

I kept trying to get them to explain exactly why that bothered them so much but got no answers beyond “deport them”.

They are a typical ICE supporter these days probably.

Nerd rant incoming.

If you build a company to sell products that are based on open source software but you don’t contribute anything back to that community at *all*, you are a complete loser.

I had a conversation with a company like this - they slapped a web UI on all very popular app.

Grew up with Computer Chronicles as one of the few consistent sources for tech news and information that wasn’t a magazine in those days. It was part of my inspiration for getting into Computer Science and Engineering.

He will be missed.

Just screaming into the void after yet another person “tried AI” instead of reading the actual documentation for an application.

The yearly tradition of putting out snacks for delivery drivers has yielded no insight into what are the most popular snacks.

However, while reviewing the video footage, I have learned that many drivers don’t know how to make a 3 point turn.

The magical time of year where I add more songs to my Plex Christmas Songs library.

Recovering from back surgery, and my surgeon did me a solid by basically going in through the previous incision spot from 13 years ago. Glued me back together so didn’t get yet another new scar.

I don’t know if this will stop the issues I have but hopefully it will keep it from getting worse.

It’s really nice of past me writing good Git commit messages explaining what I was doing in this code I haven’t touched in years.

It should be “Blue Friday”, not “Black Friday”, as in “I overpaid for a bunch of crap and blue through my budget.”

Messing with the kitchen cabinets today made me think - what if there was a horror movie where the characters were chased through a house full of soft close doors ?

Somewhat shocked that I submitted a map correction to Uber and they actually fixed it in only a few days.

It took Apple a month to fix the last report I gave them about a map error.

Once again Nasty Face proves she is a terrible human and not fit to represent the good people of the lowcountry.

I had to block someone I followed on other platforms because they were reposting some of the most hateful stuff out there regarding SNAP.

I was following them because they had been interesting and funny, and never showed that side of themselves before now. But bigots gonna bigot I guess.

It is frustrating to no end to open a support ticket with Amazon’s Cloud Services team and have them apparently not read anything I wrote and respond with generic answers.

It feels like they run my question through ChatGPT and find keywords to match canned answers.

I guess this is probably an example of a good use of AI.

To any of my fellow civil servants who are furloughed - don’t forget about this when election time rolls around.

Don’t let the ones who shutdown the government, threaten all of us with RIFs, and have done everything they can since January to make us out as thieves and lazy workers. Vote!

I wish there was a way to block some places on UberEats.

Got pizza a week or so ago that was so bad I ended up tossing it all in the garbage after a few bites.

Now that place pops up in my recommended list and I get discount offers.

I wouldn’t feed that crap to my worst enemy.

What still needs to happen is better oversight and regulation for home installations of solar - there are still way too many scammers in the industry.

If you get solar at the closest point of usage you avoid the issues we have with transmission capacity and nimby issues for large installations.
Time for the world to install a gigawatt of solar power capacity

I’m amazed at the number of US websites that treat the ZIP+4 format as an invalid zip code.

Also the number of websites that can’t handle a phone number, international or domestic, and insist on forcing the user to do all of the work.

I don’t like Gavin Newsom’s views on certain topics, no politician is 100% perfect, but damn that dude is a S Tier troll for sure.

You know what I want AI to do ? Design a quiet MRI machine.

No reason it needs to be 120db of what sounds like Temu Daft Punk.

I’m a civil servant, enough said.
I'm having a rough go of it lately, and have been thinking: everyone is going through something, and you have no idea what it is, or how it's affecting them.

Quote post this is if you're going through something, and maybe we'll all realize that we aren't as alone as we feel right now.
