I still get abuse from friends for that one time at 11pm in a Macdonald's in Munich when I wasn't sure how to ask for no mustard. Reverted to french Moutard as the server shouted Senf at me.... I'll know for next time

Point out to them that more British Mohammed's have won gold at the Olympics than Noah's have. Ofc perhaps their focus is on the British shipbuilding industry in which case this stat is less relevant.

Another example would be Iain M Banks Culture series - the ship to ship comms are frankly ridiculous and off-putting in audio format whilst the books themselves are a joy to read (even after 5+ iterations)

Not disagreeing, but if you can read a physical book, you'll get so much more from the experience as you'll project your own viewpoint of the characters rather than having someone else's view inflicted on you. LotR for the first time in audiobook isn't far off watching a movie (I suspect).
