"Non-platform" issues come to the Mayor's attention every single day. "What will the candidate do once in office about X, Y, or Z?" is not an unreasonable inquiry. We tried to get answers to 13 questions; the Mamdani campaign didn't respond. www.remappingdebate.org/article/ludi...

Sought answers from Cuomo campaign to basic Qs arising out of @errollouis.bsky.social/@andrewcuomo.bsky.social walk & talk. remappingdebate.org/article/cuom....

Specifics on how Cuomo sees NYC-run rent reg working to help tenants?

Does he really want to open all valves to construction?

No dice.

Remapping Debate (remappingdebate.org) is looking for a highly experienced reporter or three to do freelance pieces for us from time-to-time. They’d be deeply reported stories generally ranging from approximately 2,500 to 3,500 words for which we’d pay $1.25 per published word. 1/4

Remapping Debate's 80-minute audio interview w NYC mayoral candidate @jimfornyc.bsky.social. He's a genuine regulation-skeptic. I focused on probing his housing plans. Education, civil rights, consolidation-of-field also discussed. Some excerpts follow. 1/5 www.remappingdebate.org/article/wald...

K-12 platform of @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on his website: It's 171 words in all, most of which don't have to do with what goes on in the classroom. And it's strikingly devoid of planks addressing deep-rooted problems. How will he fill in the blanks? www.remappingdebate.org/article/how-...
How much meat is on the bones of Mamdani's K-12 platform?
Certainly doesn’t seem robust. Strikingly devoid of planks addressing deep-rooted problems.

This won't draw 👀 like "how hot is Zohran?" does, but, OTOH, it has a lot more to do w what either he or Cuomo will be able to accomplish (or block). Pay more attention to Council's role. It can be quite consequential, as with City of Yes. My latest. [RD] www.remappingdebate.org/article/city...

I can confirm that you can search through the by-laws of every Junior High School student government and not find any such requirement. Is that the standard by which one really wants to abide?
"There is no rule or law that states who we have to call on. …that's the beauty of this country" - the mayor, just now, on his ongoing refusal to take questions from @c-sommerfeldt.bsky.social (www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/n...)

Last night's debate: fine work from MelissaRusso and SallyGold. Education portion: too many below proficient and well below proficient answers. (Education-section transcript accompanies commentary.) www.remappingdebate.org/article/mayo...
Mayoral debate on education: Fine question, largely depressing answers
What was striking last night was how many candidates didn’t have the substance to fill even 30 seconds, or revealed in that time an under-appreciation of the problems that are going on.
