The selection in the new store is similar but I doubt it will last long. Mags aren’t faced now and cover each other up. And the children’s mags are being cut back. Only one(!) copy of The Week Junior now being ordered in every Friday.

It’s possible. But this is Apple in 2025 we’re talking about.

The thing people mostly missed or ignored about this at the time was Cue saying “but we do that when we have a free service and then there’s a paid version”. I’d be bloody amazed if there wasn’t Apple TV+ again in the future – just a more expensive version of what we have now.

Heh. I’ve been saying in various places that I quite liked the Plus, but had no idea who it was for. Apparently, the answer was ‘Jon Bradbury’. :D

The Air is such a strange thing. The camera bump sticks out almost as much as the one on the Pro. So, sure, a fair chunk of the body is skinny, but the entire thing isn’t. Such a strange thing to prize. (For me, the iPhone 17 is *easily* the pick of this year’s new iPhones.)

FWIW, I’d probably still spend half an hour trying the other options, just in case. It might spring back to life. But if not, I guess it’s shopping time for you.

If you’ve not used *and* not charged it for months, it’s most likely that the battery is dead. That can also happen with a fairly new one, note. So if you do buy another, ideally keep it snapped on to the iPad as a ‘default’.

(Also can’t get a new battery. Apple ~ just gives you a discount refurb.)

Basically this: www.wikihow.com/Apple-Pencil...

Someone here did a mad snap on/off thing that woke the battery up, apparently. I’ve never had that work. (Fortunately, my gen-2 is OK. I had a gen-1 completely die through lack of use though. Dreadful product.)

What have you tried so far? Often (not always), this is a sign the battery is hosed. Do you use it often, or has it been idle for a long time?

Some options: ensure surfaces are v clean, restart Bluetooth, re-pair the Pencil, hard restart the iPad, and leave overnight charging (+iPad plugged).

Which gen Pencil?

I suspect we are on a road to one of two possible outcomes:

1. ‘PBS’, with a *greatly* reduced BBC.
2. ’Netflix’, where the BBC fights for subs.

In both cases, govts/people would act all shocked when either system failed and the Beeb’s soft power and content diversity was just gone.

This must be one of the biggest cases of mid-series art whiplash in the Prog’s entire history. It was so strange at the time. I don’t recall why Harrison was replaced. Did is say so in the back matter?

Great Atom War in three years. I wonder whether @2000ad.bsky.social has something planned for that in Dredd or will quietly let the moment pass?

I’ve no idea. I suspect there is lingering hatred for the Gang of Four ‘betrayal’ in the 1980s, and that the Greens won’t ‘get in line’ and just vote Labour. What’s frustrating is those three parties currently have a lot of overlap and would nicely wipe out each other’s excesses.

Natch, how people vote under PR would change. So what we see now isn’t what we’d get. But PR would also provide some degree of predictability about post-GE options. If polls don’t shift prior to the next GE, we’re going to have something more akin to several hundred dice rolls.
