At a time when the US slides dangerously into authoritarianism, people "must reject the use of the vast resources of the country to threaten or carry out military assaults on sovereign nations, and instead demand their use for the life-saving work of humanitarian aid in the wake of a disaster."
The Caribbean Needs US Climate, Humanitarian Response, Not Military Aggression
US role in climate change requires us to help those most affected.

Please work with the Union of Concerned Scientists (www.ucs.org). I'm involved with "Climate" (the U.S. needs to cut eco footprint to 10% of current to be sustainable) and "Nuclear Weapons" (the U.S. wants to spend $1.7 trillion to redo nuclear missiles). Please help! No need to be a "scientist".

I am in Toronto and Ontario. Visited 50 coffee shops so far. Best are Ideal Coffee at Ossington (Duke Ellington, Ruben Gonzales), Jet Fuel on Parliament (Curtis Mayfield, Prince), and Issho on Gerard at Broadview (Jazzmeia Horn, Bill Evans). They're also all way out there in terms of cortados.

Updating Postgresql and MySQL chops. 1) Read a .sql file I thought was from psql but turns out is from MySQL; 2) Nice part: On Ubuntu 24.04, just did "sudo apt install mysql" and imported a 9-year-old MySQL logical backup; 3) Timeout to go study users and consider when to convert to Postgresql.

Logged 36 sightings of bird species in Basking Ridge area for the #GlobalBigDay using ebird.org and Merlin app on Android. This is the best time of the year in northern New Jersey for this because the warblers are migrating through.

The decentralization aspect of the AT protocol is timely. Is it being picked up internationally? Need to research this. Also, need to understand how it relates to Indieweb (indieweb.org/Bluesky), IPFS (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterPl...), and could be relevant to marmalade.ai.

SP500 is down 8.6% so far from its all-time high. Could go for 50% drop between losing AI lead, RISC-V ascendancy, BYD et al. EVs, and all ex-U.S. trading partners working together to exclusion of the U.S.

A favorite new bird in the NYC Metro Area that we didn't have in San Jose is the ebird.org/species/fiscro. Looks like an American crow but sounds like somebody stepped on him.
Fish Crow - eBird
A relatively small, glossy crow. Very difficult to separate from American Crow by appearance; look for Fish Crow’s slightly more tapered wings, quicker wingbeats, and shorter legs. Most easily identified by voice, a nasal “eh-uh” or single nasal caws. Mostly restricted to the southeastern U.S., especially along the coast, but range expanding slightly northward and inland in recent years. Often near water, but also seems especially fond of fast-food parking lots and dumpsters.
