Annie Menzel has written a real gem of a book. Herself a former doula, Annie explains how the US health care policy has obscured and enabled systemic infanticide within Black communities by blaming mothers rather than addressing the socio-economic conditions leading to premature birth and death.

This great graph from Financial Times. It shows how Trump's tariffs compares to the 1930s Smoot-Hawley Act tariffs. Those were so disastrous Congress transferred some tariff authority to the president to avoid doing it again. Fierce irony that this is why Trump could do what he did.

In a surprising move, Elon Musk makes a plug for universal federally subsidized pre-K for all of those federal workers who can no longer work from home. It's hard to find good childcare.

Considering the chaos of national-level politics, I can't think of a time when cities have been more important as sites of solidarity, safety, mutual aid, community-based development, and progressive visioning!
