It's a beautiful, chilly morning here. #idaho

We took this handsome boy to the emergency vet yesterday because he had one pupil that was tiny and one that was normal. Turns out he just had a scratch on that eye, so the Cone of Shame and some antibiotic eye drops should do the trick.

I ended up having three locations of baby asparagus come up, two have three stalks and the other has only two. We haven't done anything with them besides provide regular watering, but this definitely gives me hope for future years!

I was doing some doodle tatting to empty out some shuttles so I could start on the other pattern I thought I was going to make for my fair entry this year and now I might like this? What do we think? 🧶

No cheating, post the most recent pic of your pets.

Thanks! It needs some small replacement parts (and a belt, obviously), before I can attempt moving my machine to this new cabinet. It appears to be a Davis, with a chain mechanism to raise and lower the machine from opening/closing the lid. I need hinges and this round plate piece.

Fun fact: every firefighter in the town we lived in was absolutely DELIGHTED when I showed up at the station with my very excited little boy in his costume. Kiddo STILL loves trucks and tractors.

I harvested my potatoes and garlic and onions today. Disappointing amounts all around, but better than nothing.

@czedwards.bsky.social I sent you the Marketplace listing for this on Discord - am trying to decide if it's worth finding someone to go pick it up for me :) Cabinet only, $30.

Here's the whole finished cross-stitch. The thread colors did run a little. But it is done, and she loved it and teared up, so it's a win.

Fun fact: almost 5 pounds of rhubarb stalks is 18 cups of sliced rhubarb.

🧶 I found this cross-stitch project in a stack of hand me downs, complete except for the back stitching. I finished that, with the idea I'd then frame it and give it to my mother, but I can't figure out how to get this staining out. Any ideas?

When I planted this a few years ago, it had yellow flowers. As of last summer, it has yellow AND purple flowers, and I have no idea why. I definitely did not plant another one. 🌱

Violet is finally figuring out how to drink from the hose without waterboarding herself too badly!
(She barks and insists she wants some while I'm trying to water my garden. Lab genes are strong.)

I finally found chain I liked at a decent price and not only bought it but also installed it today in my vegetable garden. I'm hoping to train squash vines up the posts and across the chain.

The baby chickens and Pencil had a field trip together yesterday.
There was much caution on both sides, but I think it went pretty well.

I have one very small asparagus stalk! I planted a handful of these last spring and this is all I have so far. 🌱

I was assuming that everyone knew my baby chicks are in my spare living room and have been this entire time. Apparently not.
Anyways, Applesauce is the first escapee.

I have some really pretty iris in bloom right now. 🌱

My little Asian Pear tree is currently in full bloom and it's beautiful. 🌱

So after panicking about it, and then later contacting the store I got her from, I went and picked up Refund.

Here are better pictures of (criss-cross) Applesauce's cross-beak. Hopefully it doesn't get any more severe, so that she stands a better chance at survival.
