In addition to a higher deductible, higher co-pays and an insurance premium that doubled, you need to prove you work 80 hrs a month starting in 2027! You'd think ACA is free or something.

Is this why they withhold their customers' funds? My family has been trying for months to get a check from Bank of America. The excuse they give is that the request is "stuck" in the system and they'll re-submit it. Same story over and over again despite all required documentation in order.

I'm a self-employed pre-retiree in CA and facing an over $1700/mo increase

Can you share where you read ICE tried to detain him at the hospital? Not finding that in any articles. Thanks.

Only those of us who are old enough to know what life was like before ACA know how bad it's going to be

Starting in 2027, how will the self employed verify they work 80 hrs per month? Will someone determine a dollar amount of income translates into hours? I haven’t heard this addressed anywhere.

Those between ages 18-64 won't be able to utilize the ACA Marketplace at all beginning in 2027 unless they work 80 hours per month.

If I'm understanding right a child under DACA can pay into Social Security their entire life and be denied retirement benefits. It sounds as if they're being taken advantage of.

Better yet - what happens to all those who retired this year at 62? All those between 62-65 need to re-enter the job market and will face age discrimination.

What does the gray signify?

How are the self-employed and gig workers expected to verify hours? Who will determine how many hours their income is worth?
July 6, 2025 at 12:43 AM
School districts and local governments have part-time or contract workers on it, too.

So what happens to a couple near Medicare age who can't meet the work requirements?
July 5, 2025 at 9:55 PM
What happens if you're self-employed and unable to make a lot of money? Are they going to say your income doesn't correspond with 80 work hrs per month?
July 3, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Insurance companies will take you with a pre-existing condition, but they'll make the premium so high you cannot afford it. Caps on premiums are needed.

Many who retired at 62 will now find themselves unable to qualify for health insurance under ACA or the free market. The changes to Medicaid should be delayed by 3 years
June 16, 2025 at 9:42 PM
Don't forget self-employed contract workers who have no control over hours or job assignments
June 5, 2025 at 9:09 PM
Family members caring for parents with Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia deserve government help, not bankruptcy
June 5, 2025 at 3:53 PM
Don't forget those trapped in caregiver roles, typically older women
June 5, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Imagine being an unpaid caregiver of a parent for 14 years, then at 62 being told you're banned from ACA due to lack of "community engagement"
