But I guess my point is more if you feel like the recent Pokemon games had a lot of missed potential Dragon Quest XI kinda filled that void at least for me. The world is vast, the characters all look great, there’s a clear sense of style, full voice acting, ect.

And probably the last game Toriyama worked on? Damn. If you don’t mind taking a trip back to the Game Boy however the first two DQM titles still hold up very well

If you really NEED the monster raising aspect there’s also Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince but there’s unfortunately a significant drop in quality in terms of both graphics and writing in that title which is a shame because it was an anniversary release.
