Okay, very stupid thing to point out, but does the beard/bush being there out in the open with little volume underneath mean the guy is overcompensating? I mean, it'd explain the anger and "I shall make everyone miserable in my new Hell" issues.

Edgy is when it tries hard to shock the audience. Grimy or grimdark is when it has shocking aspects weaved into the narrative. The bland shooty game "Hatred" was edgy with a shallow main character. Silksong is grimy because the main character is actively trying to fix a broken, corrupt kingdom.

Thankfully not. Shouting only happens when there's someone angry at an idiot or getting crushed between boulders. No loud character for the sake of noise.

I think the best way to do so is when it's only for one character in a show while having the others use it in moderation or none at all. Even South Park got it right when discussing the topic, overusing swears can lower the impact of the words.

I have too many fetishes that you nail, and no person alive who can understand my sexual preferences.

I'd argue that it's best used as a format to customize when you need something plain and simple before adding your personal touch. Honestly, it heavily motivates me to change and improve my writing to do better than absolute mediocrity like some form of reverse psychology.

Yeah... in my head when I think of a story there's always the question of what the personalities are like and how can they clash/mesh with each other's. Plotlines happen later.

People would hate Jared Leto a lot less if he wasn't so pretentious in how he's "elevating" acting by behaving like an edgy class clown believing himself to be smart by sending heart-shaped dog feces to his classmates.

That is the right reaction to calling such a classic garbage. It still looks amazing decades after airing.

I'd recommend Record of Lodoss if you want more Japanese inspired fantasy from the 80s.

Quite a great philosophy that has been lost in many AAA games. Making personalities clash but also bounce off each other, like Gremile as the hothead and Mal as the mentor just chilling in the bus next to Lutin and Enfer, does more than an hour of dialogue ever could.

Both the writing and designs help. They're all visually distinct and easy to remember, but the dialogue, banter, and even the taunts flesh them out. In Team Fortress 2 the mercs are so finely tuned with their personalities that they remain in people's minds over a decade since their game came out.
