Note that the design isn’t like a more modern shopping centre, the town hall, library, social hubs and other functions alongside residential units were all bundled together.
I’m sad to see it demolished but it’s not living a good life now. It needs a complete overhaul and retrofit to survive.

The town centre has been altered significantly since its heyday - everything being under one roof was pretty radical at the time but has ultimately been a failed experiment.
It is a very confusing structure to navigate w closed corridors, locked doors, leaks everywhere & eery piped music.

Finally made a trip to the 1960s world famous megastructure by name of the Cumbernauld town centre.
A fascinating rabbit warren of modernist utopian dreams, now pretty dilapidated and sadly mostly deserted.
It’s scheduled for demolition so see it while you can.
