Because they all work for corporations, and the first rule in a corporation is to keep your job.

That means not becoming a problem for the corporation, which generally means not creating corporate problems.

By the way, I write this as a former Republican whose political hero remains Eliott Richardson, a Republican who was Attorney General of the United States.

His resignation was first in the Saturday Night Massacre, that ended when Robert Bork (later of "Borked" fame) fired Special Counsel Cox.

Well, it's public, and Congress doesn't object, and SCOTUS rules that he can keep doing it unless and until an appeal reaches them "the right way" because they ignore reality for theory, and pretend their theory isn't enabling his lawlessness...because they haven't been asked to rule on an appeal...

When the FBI alerted the nation that people pretending to be ICE/CBP were acting just like ICE/CBP except that because they're not ICE/CBP their actions are criminal, this is what they meant.

I appreciated drawing out the difference between transcribing and translating, especially as translations are continually accused of bias while transcriptions often fail to make the material comprehensible.
