My attitude toward Newsom these days (I am New York born but have lived in SF for 46 of my 67 years—and Gavin was the brave champion who opened the doors of marriage to my wife and me and thousands of our queer friends) is that I am delightfully surprised when he does/says the right and just thing.

I urge everyone who can to GET INVOLVED in defense of immigrants, whether it be thru street patrol (with training, please), adopt a corner (ditto), court or ICE appt accompaniment, donations to rapid response and legal defense funds, or whatever you can do. Don’t stay in your rage. DO SOMETHING.

I keep seeing replies to some thread of yours (the start of which I can’t seem to locate) that would suggest you don’t consider trans women as women. If that’s the case, I won’t be subscribing. Are you willing to point me to a post that clarifies all this? Thanks.

Yes!! 1000 times yes! It’ll be confusing to lots of folks at first, but as someone who lives in a city where it’s been used for years now for local candidates, I can tell you it works. And allows people to vote for who they really want without the fear that they’re throwing away their vote!
