i think fighter/folder matters a lot more than progressive/centrist at this point and they're correlated but they're definitely not the same

Yup. They deserve to be the highest ranked 3-loss team and probably ahead of some 2-loss teams too, but you can't lose to Florida and make the playoff this year.

i think seeing what happened to mike pence (one of their own) made the alarm bells go off a lot earlier than most

the nice thing about a 12 team playoff is that it's hard to have too great an injustice because any team whose resume ought to be taken seriously as a title contender will be a lock

Yes, Mr. Madison, I get your concerns about fiendish foreign princes and such, but here's the thing: in the year 2026 the literal Pope will be eligible to run for POTUS while the mayor of New York City is not. Maybe go back to the drawing board and give that one another go. Not your best work.

wild to me that the astrology app has a lengthy technical explainer on their website about functional programming
October 16, 2025 at 12:06 AM
but i actually think we should have a cap on district population at like 100k
October 14, 2025 at 12:08 AM
yeah my absolute minimum standard is "however much is required for every state to have two seats"
October 14, 2025 at 12:07 AM
I also actually think expanding the House to ~3k members would solve a lot of problems without any other more structural solutions. It would also be entirely achievable at federal level.
October 13, 2025 at 11:00 PM
my primary issue with PR in the US is that it's really not great without large districts and you absolutely cannot combine multiple states, so you'd need to vastly increase the size of the House.

I'm very okay with this but I think even most "expand the House" folks are thinking more 800 than 3k.

this is true but czechia is also one of the world's least religious countries so that probably also has something to do with it. hard to have a lot of church programs for *anything* when only 10% of the population identifies themselves as christian
October 2, 2025 at 3:48 AM
this is arguably less true for science but it's impossible to imagine the workflow of any writing-heavy class without word processors. the amount of overhead on composing and especially editing longer works by hand is horrid. not to mention the ability to read documents digitally and ctrl-F them

/xˁ/ is a horrifying phoneme

mocking people for *having* sincerely held religious beliefs is pretty dumb tbh but mocking people for *being bad at them* is excellent
September 30, 2025 at 10:33 AM
i don't think it should be atheists doing it, though, it should be left/progressive christians. something to be said for beating them at their own game, not to mention the average evangelical megachurch commits like two heresies a week

oh brother. they gotta dip into the extended ipa

1) It seems incorrect to claim that the professor discriminated against him because of his veteran status. The prof was angry because he was being disruptive and a bad student!

2) Isn't 8200 the cybersecurity unit that's specifically recruited for? Seems uncontroversial to call it "elite" tbh
