Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it.
A rustic armagnac apple pie w dried (rehydration in calvados) fruits. Mashed root veggies (russet, turnip, parsnip and carrot) and a tofurky(we are vegetarian) with tri color potatoes, carrots and pearl onions and more

So true...

This is so me..

Well, it's glue time. As each foam strip stretched a bit, it takes some fiddling to make it fit well. And a trim if needed. These will get rivets later.
March 14, 2024 at 9:36 PM
Okay. We have started...measure each piece, cut and label them all. There are very slight length differences between each part. Might be a 1/8th in or a bit more. Measure well, and then cut them all.
March 14, 2024 at 9:31 PM
Here is the glue up, I go through a lot of little brushes for the glue up, but a pack of 144 is not costly, maybe 18 bucks. And four finished pieces, minus rivets, of course. I need to get started on those for tomorrow. Fun fun!
March 4, 2024 at 11:04 PM
Here's a nice shot of a mini bracer. The edges are rough, but that's some shaping and sanding to get it all looking smooth as a baby's behind.
March 4, 2024 at 11:01 PM
Today we have arm armor. We went from plain to straps for the 'rivets'. As you can see, I've gotten two strips per piece cut and glued up. Measure twice cut once as they say applies here as well. I measure carefully using a tailors tape, add around 1/8th to 1/4th inch to each.

And here are the second iteration of the cone.
February 29, 2024 at 10:34 PM
Well not much build wise going on. Just more prototype work on the patterns for forearm armor.

Lots of iterations, usually three for me as I fit and refine the pattern each time.
February 29, 2024 at 10:31 PM
Yep, failure. Heat forming the foam so much shortened the parts, so adjusting my template to accommodate that. As for magnetic fixation...I would need 10 per edge/20 per piece, 40 total. A lot of stuff magnetically speaking. I'd probably upset a few heart implants or worse?
February 27, 2024 at 12:29 AM
Now for my fail whale moment.
It happens, and I prototype some things prior to committing to building. The rerebrace or upper arm cannon went sideways on me. I tried to use a two piece set up as you see. Tiny little neodymium magnets to keep it together. We'll it didn't work.

First the good news.
More priming done. Good grief (read that as Goddamn) the primer outgasses horribly. I shoot outside. It was 70 here this afternoon, so a good day minus an 8 mph wind. But the odor as it dried is terrible. I cure in the garage when it's warm.
February 27, 2024 at 12:26 AM
Hello, and good morrow, my Lords and Ladies. It's another installment in Lord Othar's Dr. Doom build.
And guess what? Yes, we all remember the better days of that who shall kot be named... but I had a fail whale today.
February 27, 2024 at 12:24 AM
Here it is in all the riveting glory!
Now to take a break and clean up. I've got cyanoacrylate on my fingers. At least I didn't mess up the new color of polish I did earlier today.
February 25, 2024 at 10:26 PM
The punches (leather) came in mid afternoon today. So, that means tiny little circles...Lots of them. That's just the start, my friends
February 25, 2024 at 10:23 PM
Filling in the cheek parts. The black foam are two 2mm parts, same shape, just one is cut into strips and glued on. For future reference, I'd do a 4mm part for each side, cut grooves with an Exacto knife and 'bloom' them with heat. They open up w heat
February 24, 2024 at 9:00 PM
In the background three rectangular foam bits.. those are to be glued together to form a cross-guard/quillion. Those will be heat sealed after glue up, then carefully sanded to shape. 10mm black foam parts, 6 mm white HD foam parts. Made a nice 'Oreo' in the shape of a KitKat bar.
February 24, 2024 at 8:58 PM
Oh my, so many little parts...that's just the decorative bits for the sword. Minus the jewels to put on. Did a heat seal with the gun...it gets warm even using a wood dowel to hold one down at a time. Then it is glue washing, as per the norm at Lord Othar's castle. So many parts
February 24, 2024 at 8:56 PM
And...big reveal!
A partial mask! Yay! Needs some hot forming, and of course, shaping and bevels etc...
Lots of bits and bobs left, cheek/jaw fills, mouth area...so many pieces, so much glue. 🥴
February 23, 2024 at 12:55 AM
Chin time! Looks odd at this point but it's coming together. It's a layered build, and is getting better. At this point...glue is good...wait...glue? What the heck...am I talking to myself? Also the jaw sides went on too. Test fit, shape, test. Then glue!
February 23, 2024 at 12:53 AM
Here is a cheeky one...
Okay it's my job to make bad jokes, puns, and generally be odd. The cheek pieces were hot formed before gluing. Notice all the marks for where to put glue. Guess what my friends...I pooched it the first time on a cheek. Put cement outside of where it goes
