Prop 50 was placed on the ballot by the CA Legislature as a response to Republican-led states (like Texas, Florida), directed by Trump, are redrawing their congressional maps to give an advantage to Republicans & provide the party with more seats in Congress in 2026.

A “Yes” vote on Prop 50 means that California would use new, legislatively drawn congressional district maps starting in 2026. After the 2030 US Census, the CA Citizens Redistricting Commission would draw new maps. A “No” vote leaves the current process and maps in place.
