Palace & England Home & Away
I think Schlupp can too. And Umeh. It would have been nice to get someone to compete with Mitchell, but we do have cover if needed.

Agree. Yesterday we played well in parts, mostly in the first half. We fell away in the second, probably due to running out of steam as much as anything. We lacked sharpness at both ends though. The defending from corners was poor and we still seem reluctant to shoot from decent positions.

Probably because he had a minor injury and couldn't play yesterday, so Parish realised he could save a week's wages!

In hindsight you are definitely right. At the time I thought he was useless.

Yes, I read it too. Interesting.

Sure, but he bought in at a different time and now only owns 18% (or about that). We are where we are partly due to his leadership, but also largely due to the US investment. If we're to be competitive in this league, that foreign investment will have to grow rather than reduce.

The idea that a successful owner in the Premier League is going to be in it for the love of the club or the area is romantic, but unrealistic these days unfortunately. The whole thing has moved well beyond those days. It's all about making money now.

Looks to me like his heart is in the right place, but he strikes me as a bit of a dreamer. A bit of a boom or bust merchant. Not what we need at this point.

It's a massive week for Steve Parish. If he allows your fear to materialise we will need a proper shake up at the top and new leadership. I'm currently trusting him to come through for the manager. Time to deliver.

Good idea. Because I had a look and apparently we're selling every decent player we have and not getting any replacements.

Can't see Eze going. Assuming it's true that his release clause has expired for this window any club would have been mad to let that happen and then bid afterwards.

Wish it was Edouard instead of Ayew.

You can easily transfer to another season ticket holder via the Palace tickets site. We do it fairly often between our group when someone can't go.. Then the guest just goes in with the ST holder. Obviously not quite the same as handing a card to someone, but it works pretty well to be fair.

I think he'll be more effective against better sides, or when we're ahead and teams are coming at us, as he needs space to use his pace. So far we've only seen him against sides sitting deep.
August 19, 2024 at 8:31 AM
There was a spell in the first half when we popped the ball around really quickly and they couldn't get near us, but the disallowed goal and then conceding knocked us out of our stride. Shame, but at least we saw a glimpse of how we will be able to play when we're at it.
August 19, 2024 at 8:26 AM
I assume that most of the subs were due to lack of match fitness / tiredness rather than tactical. Would have preferred to see Ayew or Sarr at half time instead of Edouard, but the list of players I'd rather see than Edouard is pretty long.
August 19, 2024 at 7:33 AM
Agree we were good in periods like you say. I think we need to be incredibly fit to play the style we intend to play and we're not there yet. It took a while last season and might take a while again. I believe we'll get there.
August 19, 2024 at 6:24 AM
And Manchester City will find a way to beat us at the Etihad for once.
August 16, 2024 at 7:22 AM
We'll be top 4 in November, before gradually running out of steam and clinging onto a Conference League place.

My new season ticket has a QR code showing.

He should be the fittest man in the squad. Imagine he'll want to crack straight on. Hopefully we'll sign an adequate back up to give him a rest when he needs it.
August 12, 2024 at 5:09 PM
He's had so many good balls played into him. Frustrating to watch him.
August 11, 2024 at 2:49 PM
I think it's already satisfactory. As it stands we could do with competition for Mitchell. That would make it a very good summer. An upgrade on Edouard would make it excellent. Obviously, if and when players leave, quality replacements will be key.
