Ha, they make them say "President Trump." They could have at least gone with his official title among "normal" R's: "This President."

Well if he wanted Musk to understand him, he should have used puns, such as "We'ee serving ketchup and liquor!" Unfortunately Musk finds puns so amusing he would have repeated it to any passerby who would listen, including e.g. police.

I think they're just screening them and giving it only to people they want to leave. So if Tony Dokoupil tried to take it they would call him and say "Not you, dummy." The way they call back to her PPT presentation makes that seem like it was just legal cover for this letter/offer.
January 29, 2026 at 4:55 AM
It seems they don't reveal the offer because they want to screen the participants first. This is in a way more cynical than DOGE/Fork. Also it reveals that Bari W's Powerpoint the other day was just legal cover for this, to avoid constructive termination lawsuit.

I have been interested in this; I think it's because Trump rejects the concept as being too abstract. He instead treats the PR lessons taught to him by Roy Cohn as a Theory of Everything. So, looking strong on TV and online becomes the definition of legitimacy as opposed to just one of its pillars.

Even still, he is on record using deceit/feint as a military strategy in 2 dramatic instances recently (Fordo, Maduro).

There must be some mistake. I have repeatedly been told that I "gotta admit" that this is a funny and entertaining guy.

Sometimes I kind of get why something annoys them (albeit they overreact to it by a factor of 10 million.). But this wasn't even that bad; the Australian lingo ("mini") adds kind of a charm factor. I could scroll the For You for 10 seconds and find a video more offensive to right wingers than this.

The weird thing is it assumes a kind of New Deal/Cold War mindset where Congress is always controlled by liberals. It is really from that era, where they felt Nixon and Reagan couldn't get anything done. Whereas a Unitary Executive in this day and age is more like a solution in search of a problem.

I agree with your view, but if they did this their likely approach would be to declare ahead of time that they won't recognize the results, and wouldn't it be better if we kept the status quo instead, and after elections do occur they use police to prevent the 2 Houses from convening anywhere.

Also, someone (possibly Roy Cohn) once lied to him and reassured him that the silent W, which occurs in basically 5 English words, is a common "problem" for many people. Possibly Trump wrote the word "hore" in an affidavit and was mocked by opposing counsel.

This is important context for those who say she's deliberately destroying CBS, and understands that to be her mission. It is more likely she thinks of herself as doing "centrism" to attract a big untapped audience and is legitimately stunned as to why it isn't working.

One factor I don't think has been mentioned is that children are given much more individual attention/enrichment now. My great grandma used to tell me about 1930s Newark where her parents routinely lost track of their many kids and were only vaguely interested when she got engaged.

Yes that's a key fact about ops. Not everyone is in on it. Like doomerism for example, it starts with paid RW trolls but then unsuspecting people begin to unconsciously mimic the posting style. It would be trivial to seed Bluesky with RW memes masquerading as leftism.
January 13, 2026 at 1:22 AM
I think so it also follows the pattern for RW puppet language where everything is an outrageously cruel caricature. It doesn't match the normal "high self righteousness, no self awareness" of Bluesky trollers, and I doubt a leftist would have posted that unless they were truly bored.

This really shows the Dems' cynicism because the Yes votes usually come from those not immediately up for reelection, meaning they know they're doing something their voters don't like.

I think within 50 years there will be scientific proof that watching gruesome videos damages the brain in some way, that is, if the viewer knows it to be a video of a real life event prior to watching.

Chris Hayes? Or Christopher Lasch?
January 7, 2026 at 7:04 PM
Thankfully Scott left no room to the imagination here; he cynically explained it is solely to cover his bases (even using a phrase like that), talking about it like game theory or a Polymarket bet. I have to thank Jesse H for sharing this because I had been on the cusp of feeling sorry for SA.

I was going to say Dilbert should know some fundamentals of Christianity, since I believe there was a devil version of Dogbert. However, knowing what we now do of Scott Adams, it is likely that he thinks the angel/devil trope is his original creation.

Yes, and I remember when he said that I was like what an asshole, and he lives in D+30 CA anyway. But this Revolver is so credulous about this conversion and calls it a "moment of joy." He cynically told his Xian fans, no mention of Jesus, that he will now go to heaven but if not, "I lose nothing."
January 5, 2026 at 5:58 PM
(3) he will convert "with your permission" = patronizing and again shows ignorance of the religion

(4) his standard for a worthwhile religion is that someone has to try to convert you to it...wtf. there are many more but these were the main ones that stood out
January 5, 2026 at 5:26 PM
(1) his smarmy attitude when he said he's converting bc of Pascal's Wager, which he of course didn't mention but acted like he invented

(2) His "understanding" is that you go to heaven if you led a good life = did not bother to learn about the religion
January 5, 2026 at 5:25 PM
The embedded video where he talked about his prognosis was almost enough to make me feel bad for him, but the second one (on him converting to Christianity) was reprehensible. I'm not even Christian but I was offended on behalf of them for that patronizing, smug video and its sheer Scott Adams-ness.

The "we need Greenland" is so grating and weird. Even in the 19th and early 20th century expansionists were not so blunt.
