History Teacher & ITT Coordinator in Yorkshire 👩🏼‍🏫 passionate about local history & diversifying our curriculum 🌍
After weeks of organising behind the scenes, today Hilary Benn MP came to speak to our students. Professionally an incredible opportunity for our students, and personally a real 'wow' moment to meet such a legend in politics. Such a genuine person with a real care for people

A great evening at York Cold War Bunker with other History teachers, trialing their new discovery visits. Followed in the footsteps of previous ROC members by practising triangulating coordinates of potential hits! Another great local histoey example to bring the Cold War to life

A wonderfully Christmassy day at Harewood House, with a hint of History - always make a point to pause in front of the portraits of David Harewood (pictured) + Arthur France. One way that Harewood tells their entire story, and a story I always share with my students when we discuss legacy

After one of the longest weeks ever, buying tickets for @davidolusoga.bsky.social 's latest talk was exactly what I needed! The historian who made me love History again, in the city where I trained to teach...what could be better?! (+ the topic is a great throwback to my British Warfare A Level)

Nothing like a bit of mid-week CPD on the Yorkshire Museum's new Viking North exhibit - handling 1000 year old objects is such an amazing feeling! @yorkmuseumstrust.bsky.social

Thank you to everyone who came to watch me present, and to @colinmccormick.bsky.social for his help & guest appearance on Saturday 🌟 everyone I met this weekend was incredible in every way - what a great bunch history teachers are

We also used Catherine Hall's Legacies of Slavery maps to find compensation case studies local to teachers through work/home/family/etc. A great way of making Transatlantic Slavery feel relevant for our students, no matter their context. So important to highlight these great free resources!

WOW! What a weekend. #SHP25 was my first @1972shp.bsky.social conference but definitely won't be my last
Had the opportunity to present for the 1st time, on teaching TAST on a local/national/international scale. Padlets were produced during the sessions - showing how we work best when sharing ideas🧠

What a day! Today I hosted a full day of CPD for Uni of York's History ITTs - action-packed, with a morning inspired by a mini-Fellowship on Health + Post Office @histassoc.bsky.social & an afternoon using the new Transatlantic Slavery textbook to go Beyond the Metropole. A great day with great ITTs

Nothing I love more than a local history talk, *especially* when it's all about legacy too! 🌳 what a great event to mark 100 years since Joseph Rowntree's funeral

'No one should feel like human history doesn't include them' - THIS is why I love teaching History. Thanks @sachacoward.bsky.social for a great talk, can't wait to read Queer as Folklore 🧜🏻‍♀️🏳️‍🌈
