You're also conflating "should have voted no" with "shouldn't have tried". I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. You just seem set on poking at me until I fold or something
November 19, 2025 at 7:51 PM
What's your point?
November 19, 2025 at 7:48 PM
I'm glad we can agree they didn't have the votes to sink a nominee nor did they have the power to address the constitutional crisis given the Republican majority. Yes. They were lost, in denial, and given that their efforts would have been futile and their votes useless, they should have voted no.
November 19, 2025 at 7:43 PM
I think none of them should have voted yes if they didn't have the votes to sink a nominee, or get the immediate constitutional crisis addressed.

I appreciate the exercise though. It has helped me feel more solid about my stance :)

I should also mention that Rubio immediately went along with this, issuing the memo to implement 14169 on January 24. Whoopsie daisy! That answers your original question more definitively, I think.

a chance to run up the score on some nominees in the hopes that Republicans would defy their newly-elected Dear Leader on other nominees. No, I don't think that was the best course of action. I think it was forseeable that the effort would fail. I think Democrats were in the wrong mindset.

He was impeached (!!) in 2020 for trying the same thing on a smaller scale. Your position, as far as I can tell, is that despite Trump coming in with authoritarian plans (proj 2025) and immediately acting on them, Dems should have ignored all this and offered the GOP Senate majority...

Executive Order 14169 was issued literally his first day in office in violation of Congress's appropriation powers
November 19, 2025 at 5:56 PM
I think this question is a bit disingenuous considering all the people in this thread arguing about it! Voting to confirm when the Executive is shredding Article I is fucking demoralizing. I would rather they embrace the war mindset. www.liberalcurrents.com/democrats-mu...
Democrats Must Embrace War Mindset
We have exited a long period of peace and entered into a struggle not unlike war, in which all the old certainties have gone malleable and the future of the republic is at stake.

I guess I impart more importance to the effect it has on the opposition (broadly speaking) and considering how fast Congress abdicated responsibility and how compliant they've been yes I think showing a united front is more important. I don't have room for an essay on Bluesky unfortunately.
November 19, 2025 at 5:32 PM
That the Trump administration is fascist is reason enough. Why quibble over the individual characteristics of each goon? You're sending them to power in a fascist administration trying to consolidate power. The Republicans have a majority in the Senate. Let them do it.
November 19, 2025 at 5:17 PM
I'm aware that he wasn't seen as particularly bad in January 2025, but I think the fact that he has gone full fash since being confirmed is reason enough to vote against every Trump nominee.
November 19, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Rubio is the obvious standout to me, though that vote is a black mark on every Senator

Cocoa/Cacao plants are tropical and not really grown in the U.S., so they have to be imported. It seems that some Hershey products are made in factories outside the U.S. as well.

Here you go, since you're such a baby and need to be spoonfed, an article naming names (e.g. Seth Moulton) www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...
Some Democrats blame party’s position on transgender rights in part for Harris’ loss
Republicans spent millions attacking Democrats on transgender rights. Some say that’s one reason why Harris lost.
