The Peasants' Revolt, led by Watt Tyler. The men, from Essex and Kent, congregated at Stepney Green, where they met the young Richard II. Watt met his end at a second 'meeting' at Smithfield.

Perhaps we could introduce it to the Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar that was munching on one of my fuchsias yesterday!! A touch of beauty and the beast there though!

It was, yes, like everywhere round London docks - and the Royal Docks further east. Lots of my friends' dads suddenly became unemployed.

Indeed - I love me a gasometer, but it seems like our Bromley by Bow ones are going the same way as the ones at Coal Drops Yard.
And the approach to the tunnel seems so bare on that right hand side now.

It's a personal thing but the bit at the end when they came out of the Blackwall Tunnel - those gasometers and the road were so familiar to me as a kid going to visit grandparents in Orpington and Swanscombe every other Saturday. How the Greenwich peninsula has changed too....
