Actually its pretty simple you see the missile knows its goal, it knows its starting position, and it knows its trajectory. If the missile is missing the location of itself, it can use its trajectory and previous location to figure out where it is. It simply does this by taking its old position, then adding on the vector of its movement, its speed, and the time since it last checked position to find how far and in what direction it has moved. The missile this adds this to its last recorded position to figure out where it is. The missile can then use this information combined with the known position of the target to change course in order to hit the target. Of course now that the missile has changed course you must take where the missile was and where the missile wasnt to find where it now is. But its not just that you see as not only is the missile moving but its target is too, but this is easier to figure out. You see the missile simply takes where the target was and where the target is and subtracts them to find the vector and speed of the target then using this and the speed of the missile itself along with the deviation between the missile and the target the missile can predict where the target will be. The missile then uses corrective commands to make sure where the missile wasnt it now is, after doing so the target (if it has not changed course) will be where the missile is as well, resulting in a kill. Idk how u guys dont understand this its just rocket science.
