I had chickenpox as a kid. It was miserable. I still have scars from it. So I got the shingles vaccine. My kids are up to date on all their immunizations. We all get boosted when needed. I’m really afraid of what will happen if trust in vaccines is further eroded. I fear the next outbreak.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m always tired because we have two cats and a dog who always seem to be napping. I look at them and think it seems like a good idea to just lay down wherever and sleep.

I’ve been listening to 80’s music a lot the last week or so. I think it brings me back to when I was a kid and didn’t realize how few responsibilities I had. That ignorance was bliss. Being an adult, at this time, kinda sucks.

Rainy, windy day here in SC, so seemed like a good day to give the dog his overdue bath and haircut. I’m so glad I invested in a high-speed dryer. Much easier than using my hair dryer. Kinda wish I had better clippers, but the ones I have do the job. He’s spared a dreaded car ride and I’ve saved $$.

Took the cat to the vet for her wellness check. Tech said she was so sweet for her nail trim. I’m like, are you sure you’ve got the right cat? Guess she behaves better at the vet. She turns into an escape, evade, and hide expert at home if she even suspects the nail clippers are coming out.

My 12yo needed “dress shoes”. I found some shiny Doc Martin-like boots at TJ Maxx for $25. The joy and excitement was so worth it. She built an entire outfit around those boots, vowing to wear them forever; including an old green coat of mine. Always nice when mom nails it.

So satisfying to purge unused stuff. Today I got rid of several small appliances that I’ve had for years and haven’t used in probably ten years. The only thing I’ve ever gotten rid of, and later regretted, is shoes.

Breakfast is usually a bowl of cereal and some juice for me. Not today. Cooked up some thick cut maple bacon, and made French toast (dash of nutmeg and vanilla extract in the mix). Nobody else was up yet so I got to enjoy it hot instead of making stuff for everyone else.

Today: high of 75, low of 47. Tomorrow, high of 55, low of 32. Spent the morning loading up the pop up greenhouse with all the vulnerable plants. Looks like the first week of December is going to be chilly here in SC. Hopefully the thunderstorms hold off so we can use the smoker for the turkey.

Just frogged three days worth of crochet. It was just one panel of a sweater vest for my daughter, but it turned out way too big. Rather rip it out now than make the whole thing and have her never wear it. Ah well. 🧶 #crochet
