Dark Souls 2 the GOAT
Looks like I've managed to complete 19 books this year. Pretty good considering how big the ASOIAF books are.

Here they are in no particular order.

The Castle by Franz Kafka.

This book is rather painful to get thru, and as a result took me over a month to finish, and only to end mid sentence incomplete forever.

And I love it, it is one of my favorite books ever. Somehow this abrupt ending is just perfect.

Just wrapped up A Dance with Dragons and of course it's just a really stellar book. Every book in the series feels like it improved upon the last.

This one may have had the slowest build up, but when the ball really got rolling it was incredibly captivating. Its between this and AFFC as my fav.

Finished Dues Ex HR, and it's def one of the best imsims I've played.

I rarely like doing stealth in games, but perhaps due to the variable options in evasion and non-lethal take downs it always felt fantastic.

Next up will be Mankind Divided and Im excited to see just how fun Prague is.

What are four albums that would serve as an introduction to your tastes?

I was thinking how most of the games I play tend to be older games.

So here are my four top games I played for the first time this decade that came out before 2020

We’re about halfway through the decade, what your four favorite games from the 2020s?

Fromsoft will always have my number dialed

Been playing Viscerafest since it came out of early access recently and my god does this game fuck. Between its aesthetic, story, and its stupid high speed its so good.

Best boomer shooter Ive played in a hot minute.

Found out about Tsutomu Nihei's current manga Tower Dungeon, and as always the art fucks supremely. It's a real fun read so far, lookin forward to more.

In the Miso Soup - Ryu Murakami

Read this cause of the Something Rotten podcast. Im not entirely sure what to think of it, the ending really threw me.

Tho it seems to be about dehumanization. How society does it to people and people to others. Frank is def an example, but Kenji is as well.

1984 -

There's a reason why its a classic, it always relevant in its critiques of authoritarianism.

Esp in how the key for states is their control of information and perception of reality. Nothing is more important than a belief in a better future and they know to crush that thoroughly.

A Clash of Kings (A Song of Fire and Ice #2) -

Still loving the series, with Tyrion, Sansa, and Catelyn being my favorite characters so far. On the other hand Daenerys and Theon scare me the most.

Crazy how crushing the end of this is, where I thought that shit had already hit the fan in book 1.

House (1977) -

This movie is a blast, its strange in so many places, but my favorite is its editing. Its not one style too it changes in several ways over the course of the movie very fun you just don't know what is going to happen next.

This feels akin to Evil Dead in its campiness Its real fun.
January 27, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Spider-Man 2 -

Just a bit shy of being as good as the first movie. The fights are great and the train scene is still the best, but Doc Ock just isn't as good as the first movie's Green Goblin imo.

I'll do a 2025 media thread:

First up is Spider-Man (2002). It had been a long while since I last seen it, but man this movie is so fucking good.

I hope many more people play Dread Delusion, its just so good.

The highlight is the Clockwork Kingdom, everything about this section is top notch. Its stories there are harrowing, intriguing, and so so captivating. The whole area is just fucked several times over its so wild.

I love this game.

I've finally beaten a game that's been haunting me for a year and half: Resistance.

It's uh not very good lol. Mostly cause it's just not really fun to play. Tho it has its moments and interesting points, so I am looking forward to playing its sequels.
January 2, 2025 at 6:28 PM
Dread Delusion is great.

I expected the visuals to look striking and unique, but didn't expect just how good the writing and world building is.

Stalker is a great game that I love, but it hates me. One of the most compelling games Ive played yet also genuinely so painful.

People were not exaggerating just how awful that last bit is my god. Despite that I get it now, the game is just damn good.
December 16, 2024 at 5:45 PM
Listened thru Bone White, Its a pretty damn effective horror novel with some of the most tense writing Ive experienced.
It was a really fun book, especially the main character's (Paul) spiraling mid way thru.

Main downside is that the ending was wrapped up too cleanly for this style of horror imo

Since the Game Awards are today I want say the game of the year in my heart is Satisfactory.

It's addictive, funny, and rather beautiful, and there's no better game to lose track of time to.
