i think there's something very thematically interesting about how both a christmas carol and it's a wonderful life have anti-capitalist themes and also center around a ghostly "what if you didn't exist" premise

christmas songs are not covers because the vast majority of them hail from an era when songs weren't associated with individual performers and the notion of an "original" recording didn't really exist
