Labor Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a celebration of the strength, dignity, and power of workers — and a reminder that when we stand together in our union, we win better wages, better working conditions, and a better future for all.

We will continue to advocate for all law enforcement officers, especially those in the Department of Corrections, to receive the same protection.

AFSCME will always stand up for our heroes—on the job and beyond.

This legislation ensures critical support for their loved ones and affirms that their service will never be forgotten. Council 4 helped pass the law to provide $100,000 in immediate relief to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

We were honored to witness this powerful moment alongside lawmakers and community leaders, as well as law enforcement, recognizing the bravery of public servants who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support, connect, and keep the spirit of Juneteenth alive. Together, we honor the past and keep pushing for justice in our workplaces and beyond.
