I've recently been seeing one for Cadburry eggs that is clearly pulled straight from the 90s, low-resolution and all. I have to admit it's more memorable than most newer commercials that are just flashy colors and music followed by a logo.

This is some of it, but there's also the aspect of company execs pushing for it. If a company CEO promises a general AI that can do everything, then they don't want people working on the actual useful use cases.
