I once saw a fragment of an interview he gave in which he sounded like he's involved with some apocalyptic thinking which expressly *expects* alien ships from interstellar space coming - wish I kept the reference ... is more known about the *motivation* behind his dramatic switch to pseudoscience?

Clearer view here: spaceweathergallery2.com/indiv_upload... - short (dust) antitail to the left, geometrically compressed plasma tail to the right. Everything a good comet needs.

"But “despite all of this intense study, no one had ever found this stellar stream”, says Aaron Romanowsky" - absolutely untrue: have a look at www.flickr.com/photos/13325... 2nd floor - since the tail visibility was already degraded when Lemmon 'set' behind the roof I didn't bother to change the place then. My impressio compared to earlier evenings is a somewhat brighter tail, now that perihelion is close.

Yay, a 6th sighting of comet Lemmon for me this evening from Bochum, Germany - bridge camera at max. zoom, 3.2 seconds at f/2.8 and ISO 1600. See www.facebook.com/media/set/?v... for the other five evenings since 20 October.

No love for this: bsky.app/profile/astr... - and the claim goes back to 2016, I now hear.
This work uses only a very small, non-representative subset of supernovae—some of which are not even spectroscopically confirmed as being Type Ia —and crucially relies on an obsolete version of supernova measurements from circa ≈ 2010. The SN community doesn’t give it serious weight.
