The Metal Matron
(An oldie for a Steampunk themed Eldritch Horror story I'd like to finish writing one day...)
Portrait of a woman holding an infant. The composition is reminiscent of imagery of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. The woman, with dark skin and flowing black hair, is depicted nude, covered only by a black cloth atop her head and around her shoulders. Her brown eyes are overshadowed by the piercing orange glow of her collapsing pupils, which resemble the broken cogwheel behind her head. The orange glow of it looking like a decaying halo. Large, painful looking stretchmarks cover her lower belly. The infant she holds has its face entirely obscured by a black void across the canvas, only its molten gold eyes shine through, staring directly at the viewer. Its skin is like polished bronze. A soft, warm light cascades over them both, catching dust particles around them.

A humanoid figure stands close to the camera. Their skin a deep, rust red, with black tearstains going down both cheeks. The left eye is an empty, dark socket, while the right only has a glowing yellow pupil within blackness. Their smile splits their cheeks with pearly white teeth clearly visible. Long, intestine-like "dreadlocks" frame their face as if floating underwater. What is visible of their neck and shoulders is solid black and covered in eyes and mouths of all different kinds. A bright red glow lights them from behind.
